Use Benton County’s criminal court record route

Benton County criminal court records are maintained through the Circuit Clerk’s court-record system. The Circuit Clerk public-records page links civil and criminal court indexes through the Arkansas court-search system and provides access to criminal case images from January 1, 2014 forward when public images are available.

The current public court-search route is Search ARCourts. Benton County provides criminal court index and image access through its court-record system without a separate index or image access fee for that court-docket service. The Circuit Clerk also maintains a separate fee-based land-record service, which is not the criminal court search route. Use available party or case identifiers to locate a matter. An index entry identifies a case but does not mean every filing is available online or that every charge resulted in a conviction.

The court-record route is different from land-record services and different from a statewide criminal-history product. Use the court system for a particular prosecution or filing. When the outcome matters, review the disposition or sentencing information rather than treating an index entry or charge listing alone as the final result.

Understand online images, older files, and missing documents

Online image availability does not prove that earlier proceedings never existed. If a filing or image is missing, keep the case reference and ask the Circuit Clerk about the specific document, date range, or copy needed.

An index, an online image, and a certified copy are different products. Confirm whether you need case information, a document copy, or a certified court record before requesting access.

Request Benton County court documents from the Circuit Clerk

The Benton County Circuit Clerk maintains Circuit Court records. The Circuit Court office is located at 102 NE A Street, Bentonville, AR 72712. The criminal office phone is 479-271-1016.

The Circuit Court criminal department handles felony cases filed by the Benton County Prosecutor and appeals from District Courts. Provide the case number when available, defendant or party name, requested document, and relevant filing date. Confirm delivery options and the copy format needed for the requested record.

Current published court-document charges include $0.25 per copied page and $5 for certification of a court document. Confirm the current charge for the specific request before payment.

If the case papers identify an original District Court matter, request the record from that District Court route rather than assuming Circuit Court contains every local misdemeanor, traffic, or ordinance matter. District Court divisions handle lower-level matters, while Circuit Court handles felony cases and District Court appeals. Juvenile and restricted records may have separate access limits.

Separate Benton County court records from Arkansas background checks

The Benton County Circuit Clerk does not perform criminal background checks. A county court search answers questions about a particular case file. A state background-check product follows a separate Arkansas State Police route.

The Arkansas Online Criminal Background Check System (CBC) is the consent-based route and requires signed written consent. CBC uses the Tyler Arkansas service account process and publishes a $22 Arkansas state request fee for ordinary online requests. The public Arkansas Criminal History (ARCH) name-search route does not require written consent and provides a separate paid name-search product.

ARCH is an Arkansas-only adult name-based criminal-history search product. The subject searched must be over age 18, and the search requires first name, last name, sex, and full date of birth. ARCH results are not certified criminal-history results, not certified court copies, and not a national or complete history search. A possible match is not positive identification by itself, and a no-subject result does not prove that no record exists. ARCH charges a $24 nonrefundable fee for each name search. The search includes one viewed result at no additional charge, and each additional viewed result costs $24.
